Making a Custom 27cm MALE Obitsu Doll

So you're interested in making your own doll? The Junky Spot is proud to offer a plethora of Obitsu goods to suit your needs!!!

In this guide, we will cover the 27cm MALE dolls.

PART ONE: BODY TYPE

Let's start with the bodies! There are currently 2 different types of bodies, the KM-03x series, which is the REGULAR body and the KM-13x series, which is the SLIM body.

PART TWO: SKIN COLOR

The next consideration is the SKIN COLOR you would like.

The skin tones are: Fleshtone (Natural) and Pale White Skintone. However, there are other "colors" and it depends on what body you pick.

The KM-031 only comes in Fleshtone (Natural), but is also offered in BLACK and CLEAR.

If you pick the SLIM Body, you can pick from either Natural Flesh or Pale White skintones.

PART THREE: MAGNET OR NONMAGNET

The last part of the BODY section you need to decide on is to pick either MAGNET version or NON-MAGNET version.

The deciding factor in this is how you want to display it. If you already have doll stands, or plan on putting your doll in a study cabinet or shelf where it won't be touched or bumped into, a non-magnet version is fine.

The magnet versions come with Rare Earth NeoDymium magnets implanted into the feet, as well as a steel plate stand. This lets you put the doll directly on the flat plate stand and the magnets will adhere to the stand, letting the figure stand free without a regular doll stand. This also has the extra benefit of letting you pose the doll in ways that would unbalance and topple other dolls, such as having the doll bent over, or leaning.



EVERY version of the 27cm lineup has a non magnet and magnet counterpart. Here is the breakdown:

PART FOUR: HEADS

The head types for the 27cm scale Male bodies change depending on what type of body you pick, Regular or Slim.

REGULAR BODY HEADS
Heads for the REGULAR bodies come in either Bald or with Molded Hair, in natural flesh skintone or in clear and silver. You can also pick from blank heads and factory prepainted heads. If you can find them, Obitsu also released an MW-xx series, which comes with an M-01-SP head, painted vinyl wig, and unpainted wig for you to paint. There are 9 different variations in the set. However, this MW-xx set has been discontinued. Yet another option for hair is to either ROOT your own hair into the head, or to purchase a 27cm 1/6th scale wig (However, The Junky Spot does not carry wigs for 27cm scale).

SLIM BODY HEADS
Heads for the SLIM bodies come in either Natural Flesh or Pale White (The M-03 series). As these are bald heads, you can also either ROOT your own hair, or purchase a 27cm scale wig.

However, since the bodies come with the same neck posts as the Female Bodies, you can also put the W series heads on them. This means you can pick from rooted hair heads as well! We typically recommend the W-03/W-13 series of heads for the slim male bodies, as they have the most masculine features of the W series. The effect of a W-03/W-13 series head on a Slim Male body gives the look of a slightly androgenous "pretty" male. And since the W-03/W-13 series comes in various colors, that gives you more options for rooted heads. We have also seen our customers use the other W series heads for their custom male dolls, so there is a whole range of looks you can achieve. We will color the various types of W series heads in the 27cm Female Doll tutorial, but the basic breakdown here is that there are 5 types of heads in the W series, denoted by the 5 different head sculpts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. The corresponding number in the "teens" is the pale white skintone version. So the W-11 is the Pale White version of W-01. The W-12 is the Pale White version of the W-02. And so on.

That being said, we do mostly suggest the W-03 heads for customizers that want heads with prerooted hair. Some examples of the W-03 with different colors of hair and the W-13 Pale version with different colors of hair are below.

PART FIVE: CLOTHING

Clothing from other manufacturers will fit the Obitsu 27cm dolls. However, much of it is hit or miss, depending on the manufacturer and style. Clothing for Ken, for example, will fit the 27cm Regular Body, and will also fit the Slim Male body, but might be a little loose on the Slim Male. Azone clothing for 27cm males will fit as well. Military 1/6th scale clothing should fit the Regular body. For specific inquiries, we highly suggest that you join our online forum and post your questions there.
