Making a Custom 27cm FEMALE Obitsu Doll
By Emory of The Junky Spot
So you're interested in making your own doll? The Junky Spot is proud to offer a plethora of Obitsu goods to suit your needs!!!
In this guide, we will cover the 27cm FEMALE dolls.
PART ONE: BODY TYPE
Let's start with the bodies! There are currently 2 different types of bodies, the KF-03x series, which is the REGULAR body and the SOFT BUST Series, which are KF-13x, KF-23x, and KF-33x.
The regular body is a hard plastic body. The Soft Bust bodies have a soft vinyl skin which feels and looks
more realistic, but will also pick up dirt and stains easier than the regular body.

PART TWO: SKIN COLOR
The next consideration is the SKIN COLOR you would like.
The skin tones are: Fleshtone (Natural) and Pale White Skintone. However, the KF-03x series also comes in
CLEAR skintone.

PART THREE: MAGNET OR NONMAGNET
The last part of the BODY section you need to decide on is to pick either MAGNET version or NON-MAGNET version.
The deciding factor in this is how you want to display it. If you already have doll stands, or plan on putting your doll in a study cabinet or
shelf where it won't be touched or bumped into, a non-magnet version is fine.
The magnet versions come with Rare Earth NeoDymium magnets implanted into the feet, as well as a steel plate stand. This lets you put the doll
directly on the flat plate stand and the magnets will adhere to the stand, letting the figure stand free without a regular doll stand. This also has
the extra benefit of letting you pose the doll in ways that would unbalance and topple other dolls, such as having the doll bent over, or leaning.
EVERY version of the 27cm lineup has a non magnet and magnet counterpart. Here is the breakdown:

PART FOUR: HEADS
There are 3 types of head to pick from: 1) Bald Blank, 2) Rooted Blank, and 3) Rooted Painted.
BALD AND BLANK HEADS
The Bald Blank heads are heads that are meant to be painted. Options for hair for these models is to
either ROOT your own hair into the head, or to purchase a 27cm 1/6th scale wig (However, The Junky Spot does not carry wigs for 27cm scale).
The current model numbers are: W-01, W-02, W-03, W-04, and W-05. These are the natural flesh skintone. The corresponding
versions in pale white skintine are W-11, W-12, W-13, W-14, and W-15, respectively.

ROOTED BLANK HEADS
The Rooted Blank Heads are the same heads as the Bald Blank, but come in a variety of prerooted hair colors.
The number of colors change from time to time as certain colors are discontinued and new colors are introduced. All the
hair is of the long and straight type, and the hair can been cut, styled, curled, and etc.
Just as with the Bald Blank heads, the series numbers denote the skintone.
The current model numbers are: W-01-Hx, W-02-Hx, W-03-Hx, W-04-Hx, and W-05-Hx. These are the natural flesh skintone. The corresponding
versions in pale white skintine are W-11-Hx, W-12-Hx, W-13-Hx, W-14-Hx, and W-15-Hx, respectively. The Hx number denotes
the differing hair colors.
UPDATE 1.01.2006
Obitsu has now changed their product number codes. The new codes are based upon the following formula:
XXHD-FYYZZHH
Breakdown:
XX = Scale Type, ie: 60 for 60cm, 27 for 27cm, 23 for 23cm.
F = Female
YY = Head Sculpt Number, based upon the 5 different head sculpts (at this time, there aren't any rooted W-05 heads), ie:
01, 02, 03, 04, 05.
ZZ = Skin Tone Type, NC = Natural Color, WC = White Color
HH = Hair Color
So for example, 27HD-F01WC11 would mean:
27HD (27cm scale head) - F (Female) 01 (01 head sculpt) WC (White Color) 11 (11 is Ruby colored hair).
This is both more confusing and easier in some aspects. They are doing away with the W-01/W-11 nomenclature and
replacing it with 01NC and 01WC to denote the 01 headsculpt in 2 different colors. As the older structure did not have the
hair color numbers consistant throughout their selection, the NEW structure does. So for example, the rooted heads that
end with 01 will all have black hair. In the previous structure, W-01-H1 was black while W-02-H6 was black.
EXAMPLES OF ROOTED HEADS
ROOTED PAINTED HEADS
The Rooted Painted Heads are denoted by the same series numbers as the Rooted Blank heads, but are denoted with a PHx
designation at the end of the model number. Basically, these are factory prerooted and prepainted faces, ready to put
onto the doll bodies. These rooted and painted heads currently ONLY come in fleshtone.
EXAMPLES OF ROOTED PAINTED HEADS
We will cover painting the faces in another tutorial.
PART FIVE: CLOTHING
Clothing from other manufacturers will fit the Obitsu 27cm dolls. However, much of it is hit or miss, depending on the manufacturer and style.
Clothing for Barbie will fit the Obitsu 27cm Female Bodies, as well clothing from My Scene, and Barbie Fashion Fever. Azone clothing for 27cm will also fit, as well as Volks clothing for 27cm. However, some Bratz clothing will fit and some won't. Some Takara Jenny clothing will fit, and some won't as well. For specific inquiries, we highly suggest
that you join our online forum and post your questions there.
That brings an end to our Making a Custom 27cm FEMALE Obitsu Doll tutorial, and we hope that this has been of some benefit to you!
